A
note from our Director:
A
ban on holiday lights in Colorado will go into effect
February 5th at 6:00 PM. Our legislature, in conjunction
with local and federal officials, proposed and passed
this ordinance because of the current drought conditions
in Colorado. With reservoirs at their lowest levels
in years, hydroelectric production and supply in the
Western United States is projected to be at an all-time
low in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. While holiday lights
are a wonderful way to bring joy and celebrate the season,
we must ask that beginning February 5th at 6:00 PM,
you turn them off until November 27th.
Random
Neighborhood checks have been authorized and businesses
and residences displaying holiday lights will be fined
on a per bulb basis, with current electrical use and
past power bills factored in. Coloradans wishing to
file a free extension, or report a neighbor or business
that is in violation of this code may do so by clicking
on the links below.
On
behalf of the Rocky Mountain Power Cooperative, I thank
you for helping to save Colorado's limited supply of
electrical power.
Sincerely,
John
O'Connell
Director RMPC
